Competition Judging Criteria

Energize your design!!  Participating students are invited to enlighten the high school student population through developing a branding campaign marketing energy career opportunities.  Entries will be judged on how effectively they communicate the theme of energy careers and the visual presentation of that idea. Any entries that do not meet the minimum deliverable criteria will be disqualified.

Minimum Criteria

  • Entries will be evaluated by a panel of judges comprised of electric utility representatives, selected high school students, and selected workforce development experts.
  • Judging criteria will be based on a point system. A total of 100 points will be awarded, as follows:
  1. Poster (25 points total)
    • Camera Ready
    • (18 x 24 and/or 24 x 36)
    • Demonstrates artistic, original and creative work. 10 points.
    • Communicates a strong energy career theme or message that appeals to students. 15 points.
  2. Website (50 points total)
    • Demonstrates artistic, original, creative, and usable and is limited to 4-8 pages. 15 points.
    • Communicates a strong energy career theme or message that appeals to students. 25 points. 
    • Uses advanced technology (i.e. video - less than 3 minutes, flash, PowerPoint, etc.) 10 points.
  3. Tri-Fold Brochure (25 points total)
    • Camera Ready
    • (8 ½ x 11)
    • Simple and economical to reproduce (fewer colors)
    • Must fit within conventional holder
    • Demonstrates artistic, original and creative work. 10 points.
    • Communicates a strong energy career theme or message that appeals to students. 15 points.

All decisions of the judges will be final.

  • Fit with National Brand (colors)
  • Krug’s "Don't make me think" criteria for websites (http://www.sensible.com)
  • Tailored for State of Florida
  • Minimum entry: By using the Get into Energy Florida logo design, create poster, tri-fold brochure and website marketing campaign;
  • Component of website: video and/or other media / marketing materials
    • Video:
      • Any format of video may be used in production as long as it can be converted to flash and put on a DVD or website.
  • All deliverables must include source files (.doc, .fla, .MSWMM, etc.)
  • Submittal may be from an Individual or a Team (team may be no more than five people)
