Electric Power: The generation, transmission, and distribution of electric power. It uses highly pressurized steam which is generated by burning coal, or waterfalls, to spin turbine blades attached to an electric generator. Transmission lines then transport this electricity to regional and local distribution centers, where the voltage is reduced and transmitted to homes, schools, factories and businesses.
Nuclear Power: Supplies about 20 percent of the Nation's electricity each year and is the second largest source of electricity in the U.S. The future goals of Nuclear power is to meet the energy needs without emitting harmful toxins into the air, like carbon dioxide and other atmospheric pollutants.
Oil and Gas: Makes up three-fifths of our energy needs, it fuels our homes, workplaces, factories, and transportation systems. Its the raw material needed to make plastics, chemicals, medicines, fertilizers, and synthetic fibers. Petroleum, or oil, is a natural fuel, and natural gas often is mixed with oil. The function of an Oil and Gas plant is to find, develop, and extract oil and gas.
